Release on : Nov 15, 2019

New VLMU35CL..-280-120 device dimensions 3.5 mm x 3.5 mm x 1.2 mm

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of a new short-wavelength ultraviolet (UVC) LED small surface mount device - VLMU35CL..-280-120 for sterilization, disinfection, and purification. Designed to replace UVC mercury lamps, Vishay Semiconductors VLMU35CL..-280-120 has an extremely long life and is available in a 3.5 mm x 3.5 mm x 1.2 mm surface-mount package with a quartz window and no external lens.

The device has recently released an emission angle of ± 60°, a radiated power of 3.2mW at 20 mA and 7.5 mW at 50 mA.

The VLMU35CL..-280-12 uses AlGaN technology with a maximum forward current of 6.5V, a wavelength range of 265 nm to 285 nm, and a forward current of 70 mA compared to 30 mA for typical analog products.

LED performance is particularly suitable for water and air purification, physical surface sterilization, hospital disinfection and portable disinfection equipment. VLMU35CL..-280-120 is RoHS and Vishay green, halogen-free, suitable for reflow soldering, and has a moisture sensitivity rating of J-STD-020.

Samples and production quantities of the new UVC LEDs are available now, with lead times of four to six weeks.
